A large share of my research touches on decision making under uncertainty, particularly with respect to natural hazards, solid waste, and land contaminated with hazardous substances. In this work, I use different risk constructs to understand the behavior of institutions and individuals involved in hazard mitigation, waste disposal, waste remediation, and/or revitalization of properties distressed with environmental degradation. This work includes studies on actuarial dimensions, economic perspectives, and social theories of risk, and has resulted in a wide range of publications. It encompasses studies in both international and domestic contexts.
Note that in an attempt to honor the confusing spirit of copyright law, I’ve not uploaded PDFs of my published papers to this page, but
- I provide pointers to most of the publishers’ websites, which typically provides at least access to each paper’s abstract
- I’ve made most of these available as full text through www.researchgate.net or as PDFs of working papers, and
- I’m happy to send PDFs attachments to individuals under the fair use doctrine, so contact me via email if interested
